Great news for TikTok fans in India—the government has lifted the ban on TikTok! You might remember that on April 3rd, the Madras High Court banned TikTok. Following this decision, on April 18th, both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store removed the app. However, on April 22nd, the Supreme Court reviewed the case and, on April 24th, ruled against the ban. The court explained that banning the entire app because of a few inappropriate videos wasn’t justified. TikTok’s main goal wasn’t to promote such content; a few users simply misused the platform. If TikTok introduces strict policies to remove such content, the ban won’t be necessary. Moreover, banning the app would violate freedom of speech.
